TEHRAN – Iran earned their third successive win at the 2018 IFCPF (International Federation of Cerebral Palsy Football) Asia-Oceania Championship on Wednesday.

Abdorreza Karimizadeh scored four goals, Nasser Akbarpour was on target three timed and Behnam Arandi scored one goal for the Persians.

Iran will face Australia on Thursday on the last day of the five-team competition.

“Australia are among the best teams but we are well-prepared and determined to beat the team. I think we, as one of the world’s top, should help the Asian teams to progress in the sport,” Iran coach Ali Boka told Tehran Times.

2018 IFCPF Asia-Oceania Championships is an important event for the participants since the top two teams will advance directly to the 2019 IFCPF World Cup – Pinto Madrid, Spain.

Iran and Australia have already qualified for the prestigious event.

IFCPF became the official IF for cerebral palsy football following the sport realizing its independence from January 1 in 2015, after 37 years, from the Cerebral Palsy International Sport and Recreation Association.
